so i remember to check this out laterPeter Morville wrote Ambiant Findability, one of the text books for my Principles of Searching Class this past semester. I’ve been known for reading text books for fun since elementary school, but this was honestly one of the most fun, interesting, and readable I’ve ever encountered.
What is ambiant findability? According to the text:
“Ambiant findability describes a fast emerging world where we can find anyone or anything from anywhere at anytimes. We’re not there yet, but we’re headed in the right direction. Information is in the air, literally. And it changes our minds, physically. Most importantly, findability invests freedom in the individual. As the Web challenges mass media with a media of the masses, we will enjoy and unprecedented ability to select our sorces and choose our news. In my opinion, findability is going ambiant, just in time.”
Morville’s blog is just as engaging. Check it out.
